1. About this policy
Your privacy is important to us and we are committed to protecting it. This privacy policy (“policy”) was written to help you understand better how we collect, use and store your information.
By using the platform or dealing with a merchant using ecomz platform, you are agreeing to the terms of this privacy policy and -as applicable- the ecomz terms and conditions. This policy is a legally binding agreement between you (and your client, employer or another entity if you are acting on their behalf) as the user of the platform (referred to as “you” or “your”) and ecomz. If we add any new features or tools to our platform, they will also be subject to this policy.
2. Information we collect
We collect the following information through the platform:
Information you provide
We collect the personal information and other types of information that you submit, when you use the platform.
Registration information
To create an account, you may need to provide personal information, such as your full legal name, current address, phone number, e-mail address, valid credit card details and any other information indicated as required.
You will need to provide us information about yourself, your firm or company and your practices, when you register for our services or register for email newsletters and alerts. You can also provide additional comments on how we can serve your needs and interests.
Personal information
We may collect personally-identifiable information (“personal information”) such as your name, address, telephone number, date of birth, and e-mail address from you. personal information is collected via voluntary submissions from you. If you do not want to provide us with your personal information, you may still access the platform but certain areas may not be accessible to you.
If you choose to submit content to any public area of the platform, your content will be considered “public” and will not be subject to the privacy protections set forth herein or any applicable law, rule or regulation. We encourage you to exercise caution when making decisions about what information you disclose in such public areas. Furthermore, except as otherwise described in this policy, any content you post to a public area of the platform may be used by us for any purpose.
Non-personal information
Certain non-personally identifiable information about you may be collected by the standard operation of our servers and through the use of “cookies”. We reserve the right to disclose or utilize any of this information in aggregate form, for any purpose, in our sole judgment.
The web servers we use may automatically collect information sometimes referred to as “clickstream data,” such as the domain name of the service providing you with internet access, the internet protocol (IP) address used to connect your computer to the internet, your browser type and version, operating system and platform, the average time spend on the platform, pages viewed, information searched for, access times and other relevant statistics.
Email and live chat information
If you contact us, we may keep a record of that correspondence. If you choose to correspond with us through email, chat or phone, we may retain the content of your messages together with your email address, phone number, and our responses.
Financial information
If you pay for the services in and through the platform, your financial information, such as your payment method (valid credit card number, type, expiration date or other financial information), is collected and stored by our third party payment processing company, checkout.com (the “payment processor”).
The use and storage of that information is governed by the payment processor’s applicable terms of service and privacy policy.
In order to facilitate your transactions, we collect and store your credit card type and the last four digits of your credit card number, but no other financial information. Your valid credit card information will be kept on file for subscription charges, renewals, transaction fees, card validation fees, additional support, and any additional service that is not part of your purchased plan as per our terms and conditions.
3. Information from other sources
We may license and otherwise obtain non-personally identifiable information from various other companies, including research companies, data aggregation companies, and other third party companies.
Datasets may include information about you or your demographic segment that such companies have licensed, purchased or collected.
We use this information for all the purposes described in this policy and for any other lawful purpose that we choose.
4. Technologies we use
Cookies
A cookie is a tiny file that is stored on a user's computer and issued to your computer when you enter a website. It stores a small amount of information related specifically to the client and the website. The cookie can be accessed by both the web server and the user's computer.
Cookies are used for a wide range of purposes, such as: identifying your computer's previous visits to a website, ascertaining the most popular features of a website or enabling a company to present specific information to users. In general, cookies are used to enable us to deliver to you a better and more personalized service, assist us in tracking visits to the platform and to measure visitor patterns.
We use cookies to recognize your device and provide you with a personalized experience.
We also use cookies to serve customized ads from Google and other third-party vendors.
We may participate in behavioral-based advertising; this means that a third party may place a cookie on your browser, or use a web beacon, to collect information about your use of our platform so that they can provide advertising about products and services tailored to your interest. That advertising may appear either on our platform, or on other platforms.Our third-party advertisers use cookies to track your prior visits to our platform and elsewhere on the internet in order to serve you customized ads.
Opting out
You may be able to opt out of customized and targeted ads, by visiting the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
If you use our platform without opting out, this means that you understand and agree to data collection for the purpose of providing you with remarketing ads.
Web beacons
Web beacons are tiny graphics with a unique identifier and are used to track the online movements of internet users. Unlike cookies, which are stored on a user’s computer hard drive, web beacons are embedded invisibly on websites.
To help us manage content better, we employ web beacons in e-mails that we send to our opted in subscribers. We use them in our html-based emails, to learn which emails have been opened by recipients; this enables us to gauge the effectiveness of our marketing campaigns. You can opt-out of these emails by following the unsubscribe instructions within such marketing emails.
External web services
We use a number of web services to display external content, e.g. Youtube. The web services we use could change in the future and could set cookies or track your activity anonymously. For further information, you should read the privacy policies of these sites.
Social buttons
We have installed social buttons from third parties - e.g. Facebook and Twitter- on many pages of our platform. They allow our users to share pages and information they find interesting on the social networks they are registered to.
There might be scripts running from outside our domains, which we cannot control. If you click on these buttons, they might be registering the information, including the fact that you visited our platform. Also, in some cases they could register this information, including the pages you look at, even if you do not click on the buttons but are logged in to their service.
Click-stream data
Click-stream data is information collected when you request pages from the platform. Click-stream data may include such information as the page served, the time, the source of the request, the type of browser making the request, the preceding page view, and other such non-personal information. This data helps us analyze how users arrive at the platform, what type of content is most popular, what type of users in the aggregate are interested in particular kinds of content and advertising, and the like.
5. Other ways of collection
Third parties
We may use third parties to perform certain tasks for us, such as facilitating your payments. Such third parties will provide us with the personal information, like your name, address and email address (as you specify them).
Customer support
We may collect personal information through your communications with our customer support, technical support, marketing, sales teams, and email. We do not share personal information about you with non-affiliated companies except: (a) to provide products or services you've requested; (b) when we have your permission: or (c) under the following circumstances:
We provide the information to trusted entities that work on behalf of us or with us and our other web assets, under strict confidentiality, non-disclosure and other legal agreements. These entities may use your personal information to help us communicate with you about offers from us and our other marketing partners.
However, these companies do not have any independent right to further share or disseminate this information
6. Merchants
If you are a merchant, you agree to publish the privacy policy that we will provide or a privacy policy that complies with the laws applicable to your business on your online store. Likewise, you agree to obtain the consent of your customers for the use and access of their personal information by ecomz and other third parties.
We collect your name, company name, address, phone numbers, e-mail address and credit card details. We need this information to contact you, confirm your identity, send you invoices and other processes needed to provide you with our platform.
After you have completed signing up for the platform and depending on your location, we may create an ecomz payments account on your behalf. If you activate the ecomz payments account, we will collect information about your business such as address, type, ID number, bank account, and other government identification information. We need this information to create your ecomz payments account, to provide you with the ecomz payments services, and to conform to legal and regulatory requirements.
We also collect personal information about your customers that they provide while shopping online or checking out, along with the information that you share with us. We use this information to improve the platform’s orders processes.
We also use personal information in instances where you have expressly given us the permission to do so.
7. Customers
If you are a customer of the merchant, we collect your name, email address, shipping address, billing address, payment details, company name, phone number, IP address and device data. The information is collected when you use or access our platform, like when you visit, sign up for an account, or place an order on the online store. We need this information to improve the various processes in our platform, such as processing orders, authentication, and payments.
8. Experts
Ecomz experts are individuals or businesses that have agreed to the terms of the expert program to work with ecomz to promote the platform by (a) referring clients to ecomz; (b) developing ecomz store themes for merchant use; or (c) developing apps using the ecomz application interface (api) for merchant use.
If you are part of the ecomz expert program, we will collect your name, company name, website, social media handles, phone number(s), address, business type, e-mail address, paypal account and hotline number. We use this information to confirm your identity, work with you, contact you and send you payments.
We collect data about the ecomz-hosted web pages that you visit and how and when you access your account, including information about the device and browser you use, your network connection and your ip address. We use this information to give you access to our platform and improve it.
We collect your customers’ personal information - that which you share with us or that is directly sent to you. We use this information to work with you and to provide our platform to your customers. We will also use personal information in other cases, where you have given us expressed permission. We collect this information when you sign up for an expert account, when you sign up one of your customers for our platform or when your customers sign up themselves.
9. Visitors and support users
From ecomz website visitors, we collect information about the device and browser you use, your network connection and your IP address. We may also receive personal information, when you submit tickets or make other requests to our website.
For telephone support users, we collect your phone number and call audio.
From chat support users, we collect your name, email address, information about the device and browser you use, your network connection and your ip address.
From forum users, we collect your name, e-mail address and website url.
We use this information to service your account, enhance our platform, and answer any questions you may have.
We collect this information when you visit ecomz-hosted webpages or engage with us either by email, web form, instant message, phone, or post content on our website (including public areas). We also collect any additional information that you might provide to us
10. Third party account
The platform may allow you to log in and create an account through your facebook, google, or any other non-ecomz account (each a “third party account”) using your third party ID. If you log in to the platform through your third party account, you are allowing the platform to access your information and you are agreeing to the third party account’s terms of use in your use of the platform. We may receive information from such third party accounts and that information may be imported to the platform (either as a part of your profile or otherwise). We will use all information available, through a third party account in accordance with the third party account’s policies and your account privacy settings selected through the third party account, so please ensure you read those policies and settings.
You acknowledge and agree that you are solely responsible for your use of your third party account and that it is your responsibility to review the terms of use and privacy policy of each third party account. We will not be liable for: (i) the availability or accuracy of your third party account; (ii) the content, products or materials available on your third party account; or (iii) your use of your third party account.
11. Use of information
We use the information that we collect from you to provide our services to you. In addition to that, we might use the information for one or more of the following purposes:
- To provide information to you that you request from us relating to our products or services.
- To inform you of any changes to our platform.
- To improve our platform
- To improve customer service.
- To process transactions.
Where your consent has been provided in advance, we may allow selected third parties to use your data, in order to enable them to provide you with information regarding unrelated goods and services that we believe may interest you. You can withdraw such consent at any time.
Your information -whether public or private- will not be sold, exchanged, transferred, or given to any other company for any reason whatsoever, without your consent. Although it can only be used without it, only to express purposes stated in this policy.
We do not and will never share, disclose, sell, rent, or otherwise provide personal information to other companies for the marketing of their own products or services.
We do not use the personal information we collect from you or your customers to contact or market to your customers or directly compete with you. However, ecomz may contact or market to your customers, if we obtain their information from another source, such as from the customers themselves.
We may anonymize and aggregate data collected through the platform and use it for any purpose.
12. Storing your information
Your personal information is kept secure. Only authorized employees, agents, and contractors (who have agreed to keep information secure and confidential) have access to this information. We limit access to personal information about you to our employees, with the exception of employees who require access to that information to provide products or services to you or in order to do their jobs.
We will continue to store archived copies of your personal information, for legitimate business purposes and compliance to the law.
We will continue to store anonymous or anonymized information, such as website visits, without identifiers, in order to improve our platform.
13. Sharing of information
Ecomz works with third parties to provide you with our platform; we might share personal information with them to support these efforts. We might share this information along with a record of any transactions you conduct, either on our platform or offline, with us or with a third-party advertising partner and its service providers, in order to deliver you advertising tailored to your interests.
We may use third parties to help us provide marketing services and other services to you, such as: processing payments, fulfilling orders,or designing themes for your use. If personally identifiable information is provided to any of these third parties, we will require that such information is to be safeguarded by them in strictest confidence.
In certain limited circumstances, we may also be required by law to share information with third parties. We may also receive personal information from our partners and third parties.
Personal information may be shared with third parties to prevent, investigate, or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, and situations involving potential threats to the physical safety of any person, violations of our terms of service or any other agreement related to the platform, or as otherwise any illegal activity prohibited by law.
We are always seeking to improve our business, by accomplishing these objectives. However, we may buy or sell a company or one or more of the companies in our corporate family or we may merge with or be acquired by another company. If we sell a business, we may transfer some or all of your information as a part of the sale, so that the service which was being provided to you continues or for other business purposes. Personal information may also be shared with a company that acquires our business, whether through merging, acquisition, bankruptcy, dissolution, reorganization, or other similar transaction or proceeding. If this happens, we will post a notice on our homepage.
Unless required by law, ecomz will never disclose your personal information without obtaining your consent.
14. Securing your information
We have appropriate security measures in place in our physical facilities, to protect you against the loss, misuse or alteration of information that we have collected from you on our platform. We follow industry standards on information security management to safeguard sensitive information, such as financial information, intellectual property, employee details and any other personal information entrusted to us. Our information security systems apply to people, processes and information technology systems on a risk management basis.
We perform annual audits to ensure our handling of your credit card information aligns with industry guidelines. We are certified as a PCI DSS Level 1 compliant service provider, which is the highest level of compliance available.
No method of transmission over the internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure. Therefore, we cannot guarantee the absolute security of your personal information.
15. Your rights
You can decide which information you provide and how such information is used:
If you wish to use the website without sharing any data whatsoever, some features such as chat support, opening a ticket, or accessing the platform will be restricted.
If you wish to contact support without entering your email address, ecomz experts will not be able to reply unless you provide different contact information such as your phone number.
If you wish to cancel your ecomz newsletter subscription, all you have to do is follow the link in the newsletter email.
Keep in mind that you can always access all the sections of the website but not the platform. In other words, you can view the features, pricing, and themes, and much more without being able to build your online store.
According to the European General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679 (the “GDPR”), also referred to as the provisions of the applicable regulations regarding data protection, you have the right to access and correct your data.
In addition, you have the right to stipulate directives relating to the fate of your data in the event of your death.
Moreover, as per the conditions of the previously mentioned regulation, you have the right to:
- Erase your data.
- Limit processing of your data.
- Object to the processing of your data on legitimate grounds, in accordance with article 21 of the GDPR.
- Portability for the data you have provided.
- Withdraw consent when it has been asked.
It is possible to withdraw your consent after previously granting it on already processed data; however, you acknowledge that before your consent was withdrawn, all processing remains applicable.
Furthermore, you have the right to object to the assessment done by ecomz based on your already provided data when said content is provided for commercial use.
Nevertheless and according to article 12.6 of the GDPR, ecomz reserves the right to ask for proof of identity when these rights are exercised. Please note that the data used to prove your identity will be permanently deleted once we’ve handled your request.
To exercise these rights, kindly send an email in english, arabic, or french to info@ecomz.com.
All of your requests regarding these rights will be answered within one month but it is possible to increase this period to two months if the request is complex or if we were receiving a large number of requests.
16. Transferring data outside the European Union
Ecomz may transmit personal information outside of your jurisdiction of residence. Ecomz remains responsible for personal information that is transferred to a third party abroad, for processing or supporting our efforts. Any personal information transferred to a third party for data processing is subject by law to a comparable level of protection, as that provided by ecomz. A “comparable level of protection” means a level of protection generally equivalent to that provided by ecomz. By providing your information, you consent to such transfer.
When using the ecomz website and platform, in addition to any online store created by ecomz and/or a merchant, all the added data will be hosted by Microsoft Azure cloud computing platform & services with servers all around the world.
Therefore, it is possible that the provided data will be transferred to servers outside the European Union. You agree to this data being transferred to the previously mentioned servers by using these websites.
17. Email communications
We may send emails to the email address you provide to us, to verify your account. We might do so for informational and operational purposes, such as account management, customer service, or system maintenance as well.
We use return email addresses to answer the email we receive for tech support, customer service, tell-a-friend, and email updates. Such addresses are not used for any other purposes and are not shared with outside parties.
When you open emails from us, we may receive a confirmation notifying us that you opened the email if your device supports such capabilities. We may also keep track of what emails we sent you and what emails you may be receiving from our subsidiaries and affiliates.
18. Third parties
At times, you may be directed to third party platforms and/or offered the option to download an application using a third party platform.
Our provision of a link to any other platform or our provision of an application using a third party platform is for your convenience and does not signify our endorsement of such other platform or its content.
When you click on such a link or download and use such an application, you will leave our platform and go to another platform

19. Access to your personal information
You retain all rights to your personal information and can access it anytime. In addition, ecomz takes reasonable steps to allow you to correct, amend or delete personal information that is shown to be inaccurate or incomplete.
Upon their request, we provide platform visitors with access to all information (including proprietary information) that we maintain about them. If you have any questions about your personal information or this policy, please contact by using the information displayed at the end of this page.
20. Your choices
You can use some of the features of the platform without registering for an account, thereby limiting the type of information that we collect.
You can always opt out of disclosing certain information to us, even though such information may be needed to benefit you with some of our features.
You can delete your account. Please note that we will need to verify that you have the authority to delete the account.he activity generated prior to deletion will remain stored by us and may be publicly accessible.
21. Legal disputes
If a dispute arises between you and us, our initial approach to settling this dispute will be to provide you with a neutral and cost-effective means of resolving the dispute quickly.
If it is absolutely necessary, you and we agree that we will resolve any claim or controversy at law or equity that arises out of this policy and our services.
Before resorting to these alternatives, we strongly encourage you to reach out to us first to seek a resolution to the dispute. We will consider reasonable requests to resolve the dispute through alternative dispute resolution procedures, such as mediation or arbitration, as alternatives to litigation.
22. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
This privacy policy and our legal obligations hereunder are subject to the laws of Lebanon, regardless of your location.
You hereby consent to the exclusive jurisdiction of and venue in the courts located in lebanon for all disputes arising out of or relating to our services.
23. Changes to this policy
This policy will be updated periodically and without prior notice to you to reflect changes in our personal information practices. We will post a prominent notice on our platform to notify you of any significant changes and we will also indicate at the bottom of the notice when the policy was most recently updated. It is your responsibility to review this policy frequently and remain informed about any changes to it, so we encourage you to visit this page often.
